Driving up to the monument was very nice and scenic. There were mountain goats in the road on the way up. They run wild and cars must stop while they cross the road. The monument was smaller than I expected it to be but it was still magnificent to see. The amphitheatre in front of the monument was nice. For... more

A wonderful monument to view. It is beautifully kept up and has lots of information about the sculptor and the idea behind the monument. There is two films shown during the day. There is a special lighting ceremony in the summer and a regular lighting during the fall and winter months. The trail in front of the base of the...

I really enjoyed seeing Mt. Rushmore. It is amazing and I was very impressed! I also recommend spending sometime looking around at the exhibits. I was shocked to see how workers scaled down the side of the mountain to sculpt the President's faces....It's a scary job! Visiting Mt Rushmore gives you a greater percpective on being an American :-) more

I have been to Mount Rushmore before, but my husband and kids had not, so this is more from their perspective. My husband said this was the favorite stop of our trip, and the kids had it in their top three. Parking was no problem even though we did not arrive until 10:30 on a Monday after Sturgis and crowds... more

This is one of those places in the 'bucket list' to visit. Who hasn't heard of mt. rushmore. It has been shown in movies like north by northwest, nat'l treasure among others and countless books. This was definitely my number one place to visit and it didn't disappoint. We got there late the first night so we decided to just... more

“Brought out the patriot in all of us!”

Loveland, CO

Everyone in our group was awestruck by Mt Rushmore. Each and everyone of us was affected by the magnitude of the achievements of the sculptor and his subjects. We went during the day and walked the Presidents Walk. Then we came back for the lighting ceremony and experienced a patriotic display that made all of us want to get out and participate in our democracy. A truly spectacular experience for all ages.

“Mount Rushmore - makes me blush more....”

I couldn't believe that after 40 years of wanting to see this place, I finally took the time to visit. It was wonderful. It costs $10.00 to park but it's an annual pass so visit as often as you can. We got there fairly early (which I recommend during the summer rush) and found a parking place right away. We walked around and did the Presidential Walk, which gives you excellent views of the presidents. The lecture about buffalo skins and teepee making is the first top on the walk; it is also interesting. I was awestruck about the whole monument. To see it as you're walking up from the parking garage can only be described as breathtaking.

“Wonderful”

Colorado Springs, Colorado

Mount Rushmore was fabulous. We got there pretty early in the morning, so it wasn't crowded yet, which was nice. Make sure you bring cash, though, since parking is $10 and they only accept cash. The rest of the site is free. We were able to walk around a little of the Presidential Walk, which was well laid out. There were tee pees for the the kids to check out and a Ranger there talking about them. There are great signs to read about the presidents featured on the mountain. A great thing to see.
